Welcome to The Ceólminers Website

The home of Ireland’s Top Irish wedding Party band

We specialize in authentic Irish Trad /folk and ballads to make your wedding or corporate event a session to remember.

Brendan Melia is the singer and guitarist of The Ceólminers. With his unique and authentic traditional Irish folk singing style, has captivated audiences all over Ireland and Europe and recently returned from a successful tour of Italy. Brendan has been immersed in the Irish ballad singing scene since his youth. From pub sessions in smoky little bars in the eighties to the concert stage and loves to hear the music he makes booming from the big PA!

Brendan also plays harmonica, 5 string banjo and has started on the bouzouki. His favorite sessions are The Irish weddings. “There’s just a magic feeling about them. Everyone is in great form and appreciate the music so much. It’s great to get the feedback from the Brides, grooms and guests. I love it”

Tenor banjo player extraordinaire, Brian Kelly is the other permanent member of The Ceólminers. Brian is considered by many to be one of the top banjo players in the country. A past All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil champion, Brian is a master of his instrument and shows his obvious flair for performance in improvising on jigs and reels(while Brendan tries to keep up!) He is a joy to listen to and gives a great lift to the trad tunes and nice understated accompaniment to the songs. Brian is also a fine exponent of the mandolin and whistles.

The Ceóminers set list is a compilation of the best of Irish folk songs, ballads and trad tunes. It includes classics by The Fureys, The Dubliners, Luke Kelly, Christy Moore and many, many songs and tunes loved by generations of Irish wedding guests. If you are looking for an authentic Irish pub ballad session vibe for your wedding day or event, you have found the right band.

The Ceólminers have a deep love of the music and a great respect of the culture that gives it life and are at times uncomfortable with the music being hi-jacked for commercial paddywhackery. You won’t find a more genuine and authentic Irish folk sound anywhere, thanks to the reverence of Brendan and Brian for the music and the spirit of its origins.

We look forward to meeting you soon at one of our gigs and sharing our music with you.

All the best,

Brendan and Brian
